Huffman Prairie

Huffman Prairie is the location where the Wright Brother’s perfected flight. In 1904 and 1905 they made hundreds of test flights perfecting their machine. By 1909 this area was called Simms Station and was the worlds first It is now a national park located next to Wright-Patterson Air Force base. Huffman Prairie is on the flight path of the air force base and I captured a C-17 Globemaster lll air transport taking off.  The brothers also devised a catapult to propel the machine to a starting speed for take off. Here are two photographs of the replica aircraft storage barn and catapult at Huffman Prairie National Park.
