Artful Photographs Of Cincinnati, Ohio

Roebling Bridge Cincinnati Ohio looking at downtown Cincinnati by Dan Cleary

I was part of the Summerfair Cincinnati outdoor art fair last week. As part of the weekend show, I created six new photographs of the Cincinnati area. The first photograph is of the Roebling Bridge from the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. I took this photograph right after sunset. This was a cloudy night and not a dramatic twilight. My job as an artist was to find all the color and texture embedded inside the photograph and bring it out.

After taking the vast photograph of the entire bridge, I walked up the stairs to the walkway on the bridge. I focused my camera looking through a bridge structure with a downtown Cincinnati building in the background. I let cars streak through my frame to add another abstract element to the photograph. My exposure was about two seconds.

Outside of Music Hall in Over The Rhine Cincinnati Ohio by Dan Cleary

I walked through the Over The Rhine district and created a photograph of the outside of the Music Hall building. I used a 50-megapixel camera, and this photograph’s amount of detail is impressive.

Findlay Street Market with train going by in Cincinnati Ohio by Dan Cleary

A few blocks from the Music Hall in Over, The Rhine is Findlay Street Market. Cincinnati has a streetcar that travels through the downtown area. I was lucky to capture an exposure with the streetcar going through my frame.

I also went to the Aronoff Arts Center, just south of Over The Rhine. The Cincinnati Streetcar also travels past the Aronoff Center. I created several long exposures trying to capture an interesting photograph. This picture shows the Streetcar going past my camera, and because of the speed of the length of the exposure, the streetcar becomes transparent.

Front door of The Comet in Northside Cincinnati Ohio by Dan Cleary

The last photograph of a coffee shop’s front door is the bar named The Comet. It’s located in the area of Cincinnati called Northside. The Comet has been a staple of the Northside area for many years, and the front door looks like it has been painted 50 times through the years.
