I have three websites for my photography business as a professional photographer, ClearyCreativePhoto.com, ClearyFineArtPhoto.com, and ClearyPhotoWorkshops.com. ClearyFineArtPhoto.com is an eCommerce website selling many landscape photographs I have created around the Ohio area. Some are from large towns like Cincinnati, but many are from small towns. I received an order this week for a photograph I created a few years ago in Piqua, Ohio. Piqua is a city of about 20,000 people in Miami County, about 25 miles north of Dayton, where I live. It is on the Great Miami River that also goes through downtown Dayton. I happened to be there in the middle of summer on a Friday night as the sun went down. The interesting thing about this order was it came from Corpus Christi, Texas. It was placed by a man and addressed to a woman with the same last name. I’m assuming husband and wife. I think his wife must have grown up in Piqua, and he is buying it as a gift from her hometown.
I like creating landscape photographs that include people in them. I was lucky to be in Piqua on a night when the city was having a summer concert on the levee by the river. You can imagine all the people having a beer, listening to the bands’ play, and socializing with their neighbors. The areas along the Great Miami River in Ohio have worked to make the river a nice place to navigate. In my photograph, you can see a group of four kayakers going down the river on a beautiful summer’s evening.
I hope this photograph hangs proudly in their home for many years to come.
